Aims and objectives:
Aim:An observational study to evaluate patients with dural arteriovenous fistula.
Objective:Pre and Post endovascular treatment evaluation of symptomatic patients with dural arteriovenous fistula.
Methods:
Place of study: Tertiary health centre
Duration of study: Sept 2023 to May 2024
Type of study: Prospective observational
Sample size: 24 cases and more
Inclusion criteria:
Patients giving informed consent
Symptomatic patients with dural AVF
Exclusion criteria:
Patients not giving informed consent
Asymptotic patients with dural AVF
Results:
Headache was present in just 19% of subjects post treatment in contrast to 88% pre treatment.
Visual disturbance was present in 3 % of the subjects in contrast to 77% in pre treatment.
Focal neurodeficit was present in none of the patients post treatment compared to all the patients pre treatment.
Papillo edema was present in just 3% of the subjects post treatment compared to 94% of the subjects pre treatment.
Conclusion: Endovascular treatment is effective in causing statistically significant reduction in frequency of predominant symptoms in patients with dural arteriovenous fistula.
